Lakes Environmental Association Set to Launch Dock-to-Dock Series

July 15, 2010 - BRIDGTON -- Staff members and volunteers from the Lakes Environmental Association are conducting a series of dock-to-dock tours on local lakes and ponds this summer, including one on Moose Pond this Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

LEA conducted a similar tour on Woods Pond on June 26 and staff members answered many questions from shorefront landowners about water quality, invasive plants, lake-friendly landscaping, erosion, shoreland zoning and other important issues.

Margot Kingston, a Woods Pond landowner and longtime LEA member, loaned LEA her pontoon boat and drove LEA staff members around the entire lake in order to help her neighbors and Woods Pond.

So be on the lookout for a pontoon beoat with the LEA banner on your lake. It's a great way to help keep our lakes clean and clear.

The current schedule for future dock-to-dock tours is:
McWain Pond, July 24
Keoka Lake, July 31
Crystal Lake, Aug 7
Highland Lake, Aug 21
Hancock and Sand Ponds, Aug 21
Peabody Pond, Aug 28

For more information, contact LEA at 647.8580.
