Bureau of Parks and Lands Announces Sale of State Park Passes for 2010

November 23, 2009 - AUGUSTA -- The Maine Department of Conservation’s Bureau of Parks and Lands has announced that 2010 state park passes are now on sale.

This is the 75th year of the state park system, and the BPL hopes Mainers will consider giving the park passes as holiday gifts.

The passes offer unlimited day use at all 47 state parks and historic sites, and can be used throughout the year by Maine residents and non-residents.

Passes are available for $35 for an individual pass or for $70 for a vehicle pass that allows park entry for all occupants of a vehicle weighing up to one ton.

Maine residents age 65 and older are allowed free day use at all parks and historic sites. Children age 5 to 11 pay only $1, while children under 5 get in free.

Passes can be purchased in a variety of ways, including when residents file their state income tax return. They may also be purchased when visiting a park, or on-line at www.mainestateparkpass.com, or by calling the Bureau of Parks and Lands campsite reservation office at 287-2209.

In addition, checks or money orders can be sent to Department of Conservation, Attn: Reservations Office, 22 SHS, Augusta, 04333-0022. Passes will also be sold at the DOC’s headquarters in Augusta.
