Summit Spring Water Inc. leaving Harrison

September 12, 2007 - Harrison -- The president of Summit Spring Water Inc. has announced his company will be relocating its corporate offices, warehousing and distribution facilities out of town and possibly out of Maine.

Summit Spring Water owner N. Bryan Pullen cited "continuous and ongoing disputes with Harrison town manager Mike Thorne and public works director Sam Cousins, in addition to a general lack of support and an antibusiness atmosphere" as the reason for the dramatic move.

In addition, Pullen said plans to rebuild the historic Summit Spring hotel in its exact location from the 1800s as a corporate office and warehouse facility "have been scrapped."

"Water from the source will now be transported and either finished product form or in bulk tankers to a different location for bottling, storage and distribution," Pullen said in a press release issued Monday.

"Letters will go out soon to surrounding communities in both Maine and New Hampshire as the selection process begins for a new location," said Pullen. "Summit Spring water takes with it substantial tax revenues including excise tax on its fleet of vehicles, year-round jobs and generous donations to local programs."

Pullen also said that "reestablishing the company as a New Hampshire corporation is also under review, due to the large presence it currently enjoys in that state, as well as the state's reputation as being much more business friendly."

"The availability of existing warehouse facilities and access to major route networks will benefit Summit's planned expansion into the Northeast region," said Pullen
